On Saturday 11 May 2024, the Escuela Superior de Dise\u00f1o de Arag\u00f3n was invited to Gelsa to the \"Alabaster, past, present and future\" conference organised by the Gelsa Town Council together with the company United Alabaster. The aim of the event was to highlight the qualities of alabaster, a material that is highly appreciated outside Aragon. In addition, the event included the inauguration of the exhibition \"The rebirth of alabaster\", with pieces made with material from the Gelsa quarry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This conference highlighted the importance of alabaster in the history of Aragon. The change that is currently taking place is a greater appreciation of the material, together with the research being carried out into alternative uses of alabaster, in order to make the most of all possible material, including waste, promoting the circular economy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order for this situation to improve in the future, the importance of public-private collaboration was highlighted, as well as the need to have good professionals in Design and in the manufacture and transformation of alabaster in Aragon, so that the potential of the material has a greater impact on Aragonese society.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n
