Working Social Design: Espacio Visiones and ESDA (2nd part)

Published on 25 February 2019

In this case, the artists of Espacio Visiones (Rey Ardid) and the students of ESDA have continued the project with a photography workshop and the taking of portraits on set. These photographs will form part of the final exhibition, after a plastic intervention on them by all the co-authors.

In the double context of the subject of Applied Photography to DG I and II, and the apprenticeship in Social Design, since the beginning of the course, this experience is being developed as a journey towards normalisation, inclusion, and the de-stigmatisation of mental illness. In the first week of May (the date has changed in our Calendar of Events) an exhibition will disembark at ESDA that will show the results of this joint work.

At ESDA, Social Design education is approached through immersive work so that our students develop a more realistic and responsible design (Victor Papanek, "Design for the real world, 1971). It is important for designers to be aware that the work they do is not neutral, and that, because it manifests itself in the public space, it is political (Hannah Arendt "...").Was ist Politik ? ", 1993). That is why at ESDA we take this approach to education in Social Design, working with different vulnerable or excluded groups.
