Interactive Experiences

Published on 29 March 2019

For a week, the ESDA hall was the setting for an installation of interactive objects that, when tapped, touched or blown, projected shadows of virtual objects that did not exist in reality: a bird taking flight, flowers growing and soap bubbles floating.

The aesthetics are similar to classic shadow theatres, but in this case the shadows of real objects are mixed with animated virtual shadows that appear and move in a surprising way.

The installation is based on sensorised objects, which are not technological in appearance, but which, on detecting the user's interaction, communicate wirelessly and activate the projection of virtual shadows.

Students from several subjects have participated in its development: Creative Code (4ºDG), Technology and Interactivity of Objects (4ºDP) and New Materials (2ºDP), in an interesting interdisciplinary collaboration between Graphic Design and Product Design.
