In this third phase, the artists from Espacio Visiones (Rey Ardid) and the co-authors, ESDA students, continued the project with a plastic intervention on the portraits taken on the set during the photography workshop at ESDA. Mixed groups were formed in which we all participated. On this occasion, each group intervened on the digital portraits of the other co-authors on the computer. During the next visit, we plan to work on the collage on these already printed works. These works, thus created together, will form part of the final exhibition to be held this May.
In the double context of the subject of Applied Photography to DG I and II, and the apprenticeship in Social Design, since the beginning of the course, this experience is being developed as a journey towards normalisation, inclusion, and the de-stigmatisation of mental illness. In the first week of May (the date has changed in our Calendar of Events) an exhibition will disembark at ESDA that will show the results of this joint work.
At ESDA, Social Design education is approached through immersive work so that our students develop a more realistic and responsible design (Victor Papanek, "Design for the real world, 1971). It is important for designers to be aware that the work they do is not neutral, and that, because it manifests itself in the public space, it is political (Hannah Arendt "...").Was ist Politik ? ", 1993). That is why at ESDA we take this approach to education in Social Design, working with different vulnerable or excluded groups.
