DISCERN Journal (The International Journal of Design for Social Change, Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship) is an academic journal founded by Ana Margarida Ferreira and Nicos Souleles, specialising in social design. It is an independent, interdisciplinary, open access journal that promotes academic research and exchange in the broad field of design for social change and innovation.
This Special Supplement to the Fall 2024 issue (Vol. 5 No. 2) is about the III ESDA DESIS Social Design Days. It contains critical reflections by the seven participating professors on the topics that were discussed during those days together with an enlightening introduction by Ezio Manzini, founder of DESIS Network. It was edited by Cecilia Casas Romero and the participating researchers were Yanki Lee (Hong Kong), Lorraine Gamman and Francesco Mazzarella (London), Nicos Souleles (Cripre), Canan Akoglu (Denmark), Susan Melsop (Ohio) and Bori Feher (Budapest).
One year later, during the IV ESDA DESIS Social Design Days, the printed and digital supplement designed as a fanzine by the 4th year students of Graphic Design: Aurora García, Estrella Nidia, María Carrasco, Tomás Sevil and Naoko Ibarzo, based on the graphic identity of the event created by Inés Marco, in the context of the Advanced Editorial Design course and thanks to the teacher Vanesa Gil.
