The City Council announces the second edition of the youth competition on Instagram #CambiaelMuseo

The project was launched last year with the aim of promoting culture and creativity among the young people of Zaragoza through art and social networks, making the artistic heritage to be found in the city's museums visible.

In this new edition, in addition to the Pablo Gargallo Museum and the public art collection of Zaragoza City Council, the Zaragoza Museum, the Alma Mater Museum, the Museum of Natural Sciences and the IAACC Pablo Serrano are also collaborating.

The deadline for submitting works will be from 29 March to 3 May, and participants will be eligible for three prizes of 500 euros each.

Zaragoza, Tuesday, 23 March 2021. Zaragoza City Council's Culture and Youth services have joined forces once again to announce the second edition of the youth competition on Instagram #CambiaelMuseo, with the deadline for submitting works beginning on 29 March and ending on 3 May.

The project was launched last year with the aim of promoting culture and creativity among the young people of Zaragoza through art and social networks, making the artistic heritage to be found in the city's museums visible. The call for entries was a great success and with a total of 304 publications and a reach of 304,000 users on the hashtag #cambiaelmuseo, 274 works were submitted by 154 participants.

It is aimed at creators between the ages of 14 and 35 so that they can freely version, through designs, illustrations, paintings, collages, animations or any other genre of the visual arts that can be captured in digital format, a series of paintings and images that form part of the collection of some of Zaragoza's museums.

Specifically, this second edition involves the Pablo Gargallo Museum and the public art collection (Zaragoza City Council), the Museum of Zaragoza and the IAACC Pablo Serrano (Government of Aragon), the Alma Mater Museum (Archbishopric of Zaragoza), the Museum of Natural Sciences (University of Zaragoza).

Among its objectives is to generate collaborative actions between the city's museums as well as to bring its historical and artistic treasure closer to the youth, offering a space for creation to young artists and supporting its dissemination through social networks.

Participants are eligible for 3 cash prizes of 500 euros each. Works by an individual or by artistic groups or collectives will be admitted to the competition, and the presentation of several versions per artist will be allowed.

As a novelty this year, three local artists have been invited to create their own version of the out-of-competition works and encourage participation. They are Rebeca Zarza (rebeca_zarzaestudio), Sara Jotabé (sarajotabe) and Juan Chaves (@kpturas). The competition also has the collaboration of the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón (ESDA) and the Asociación de Diseñadores Gráficos de Aragón (ADA).

How to participate?

To participate, all you need to do is post your work on your Instagram profile with the hashtag #changethemuseum2 mentioning the accounts @zmuseos and @juventudzaragoza, and putting both the title of the work created and on which it is based.

On the website https://zaragoza.es/sede/portal/cultura/cambiaelmuseo2 you will be able to download the versioned works, consult the rules and obtain all the information about the competition.
