Educating Cities and Social Design of Children's Fashion: ESDA and CEIP Santo Domingo in the Auditorium.

Within the framework of the International Association of Educating Cities and its Spanish network, Zaragoza City Council organised a gala in the Luis Galve Hall of the Zaragoza Auditorium, in which 23 educational centres, entities and groups of various kinds took part, with the aim of raising the profile of educational and social projects developed in the city.
The Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón (ESDA) participated in this event with the photographic exhibition of the collaborative social design project "Play to createThe event was organised by students of the Fashion Design speciality together with the students of CEIP Santo Domingo. The initiative was framed within the theme of this year's edition, "Children's participation in the educating city".which highlighted the active role of children as an essential part of citizenship.
The project "Play to create was developed over two consecutive years as a collaboration between ESDA and CEIP Santo Domingo, an educational centre in the San Pablo district of Zaragoza, and its objective was the creation of a children's clothing collection. Throughout the process, various graphic-plastic activities were carried out at the school, with the joint participation of ESDA Fashion Design students and the school's children.
This experience allowed ESDA students to carry out valuable fieldwork, getting first-hand experience of the ergonomic, practical and aesthetic needs of the children's public. At the same time, it offered children the opportunity to learn about and actively participate in the creative design process, getting involved in different phases of the project.

The final result was a series of photographs taken as part of the optional subject Fashion PhotographyThe children were photographed wearing the garments designed specifically for them in a session on the set of the ESDA. The project was coordinated and accompanied by the following teachers Marta Jiménez, Noelia Ortega and Cecilia Casas.
ESDA thanks Celia Vilar the invitation to participate in this initiative and the organisation of the production of the exhibition.
